I love the idea of a Palestinian restaurant but for reasons I don't do hookah bars.
The best place in HTX https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:Ranosh_patio
What is ranosh?
I'm at THE RANOSH.
<@&1207078846508310558> anyone down for ranosh
not sure how long i'll be here tonight
Stands to reason it's going to be another AWESOME night at Ranosh.
Fair enough, I will check it out next time when I am in a more coworking mood then.
I care about the game 0% I'm just here for hookah and getting work done
they don't yet have the TV on outside 🙁 s you may want to put a hold on that if that's your primary plan.
I spent a significant portion of my life in “it’s called football not soccer” places. So, I’ll come hang out just to watch football if you’re down to hang out.
If Iran attacks Israel though, I'm going to have take the television to watch the only professional sport I enjoy. Justice.
I think it may be cultural, they seem to prefer the TV.
I got a laptop, I'm here to cowork. And all these columbians decided to join me, without a laptop, to provide support.
wtf does soccer have to do with this?
hoss soccer team when?
lol
@everyone Anyone wants to come out to Ranosh I got a table outside. We got the Columbians amassing today in their flag colors. They're getting to ready to start cheering "VIVA HOSS". It's going to happen. Come enjoy this momentus occassion.
0 Falafal burgers.
<@&1207078846508310558> I'm about to head out to The Holy of Holies. open invite.
If we’re talking Pakistani food, Karahi Boys in Sugar Land is very good
Chai Sai has it in the same shipping center next to Himalaya
I had the one from KFC there and it wasn't as good.
The one in Karachi from Mickey Ds is the best imo.
Spicy Chicken Zinger!!!! they need that on the menu.
so you could be right, somewhere between 2019-2024 though Fanoosh deployed their Falafal Burger.
Actually at one point they made their veggie burger with black beans... But once you start going down the fusion route and you need to pull in the veggie hispters, you eventually MUST have a falafal burger.
interesting....
don't dash my stereotypes of pakistani fusion restaurants you're making me use google.
<@725109137951948811> dude. of course they have a falafal burger...
Fanoosh menu has some bangers if you ignore the burgers. Bun kebabs and their halwa puri
0 falafel burger on the menu. RIP
Pakistan had the best mangoes I’ve had in my life.
I miss the food. lol.
YES!!! Omg I went to Pakistan in 2022 for a friends wedding and I cannot for the life of me find any of the dishes I had when I was there. 😭😭😭
Yea, that's probably the reason the halal market needing a burger place and being able to fill that. I mean Ranosh also sells burgers (and fajitas which apparently are a banger with spanish churches) but it's not something I would ever go to Ranosh for. I mean I never think "I want a burger, I should drive to Ranosh." But, I could see doing it if you need a Halal Burger. When Elevation Burger was open in Houston I used to go there with my Muslim friends that want a burger.
Reason they are doing that is bc it’s now unfortunately trendy in Pakistani community. A lot of people that are extremely strict Muslims can’t find halal options for those things so these restaurants try to fill the gap. It all started with the spicy chicken sandwich and now there’s a dozen halal smash burger places unfortunately
But there is something awkward about Pakistani resturants in particular going the route of fusion. Like Fanoosh and Bismallah. That seems very typical where they're selling burgers, and chicken wings and stuff. I wonder if it's really a thing -- or just a sampling bias with me.
The owner owned some super-rich luxury event venue that he wanted to focus on, but he was always a really cool guy.
We got a lot of really good Pakistani places in Houston. From my perspective anyway. My kid used to be addicted to a buffet called Mezban before the guy sold it.
I''ll have to give this Javed Nihari a shot, and do their Nalli nihari. It's a bit far away for me, but next time I'm outside BW8 over there I'll do it.
Nihari is the dish. But if u want an upgrade you can tell them u want a “Nalli nihari” which is the beef stew with bone marrow on it for a rich taste
what's the name of the dish?
(taking notes, but I really love Aga's and Himalayas. Aga's is one of my favorite places in Houston)
They specialize in only one dish which the best way i can describe it is a brisket stew it’s extremely good and hearty
Javed Nihari
I’ll give you a good one
There are great Pakistani places but we lowkey gatekeep them lol
True story, one time I went into a Pakistani place in Houston named Bismallah, and they were like "you should try our burger." And that was the last time I went there.
